2023 Breed Show at Strathallan – Entries Open!
We are delighted to be returning to Strathallan Castle Estate for the Highland Pony Society's Breed Show on Sunday 9 July 2023. It promises to be a very special occasion and the climax to an incredible week of events centered around Strathallan to celebrate the Society's Centenary. There will be stabling, camping space, marquees and all sorts of facilities to enjoy alongside the company of like-minded people.

The End of an Era!
After working as Secretary for the Highland Pony Society for over 21 years, I am handing over the reins on the final day of March. I would like to take the chance to thank all members and friends of the Society for their support over all this time. I’m so lucky to have worked in a job I've enjoyed so much where, every day, I feel valued - that is so special! Don’t Miss the 2023 Native Pony Roadshow – Cheltenham – 1st April 2023
Open to members, judges and native pony enthusiasts!10am - 4pm Here's a chance to enjoy a terrific day of information on Highland, Fell, Dale, Exmoor and Dartmoor ponies all in the same place! There will be example ponies from each breed and senior breed judges will talk us through the attributes and virtues of each breed type. There will be ample opportunity to answer your questions. New HPS Secretary Appointed!
Great news! We are delighted to report that Eilidh Cadden has been appointed to the role of Secretary of the HPS and will start work on Tuesday 14 March 2023. Susie and Eilidh will work together for around three weeks to show Eilidh the ropes. After that period, Susie looks forward to seeing members and friends at the Highland Show and at the Centenary events taking place this year. We'd be very grateful if you could bear with us during the handover period!

Evening Presentation – a Fresh Approach to Grass Sickness
A Fresh Approach to Grass Sickness Research featuring Dr Beth Wells, Principal Researcher, Moredun Research Institute, Pentlands Science Park, Midlothian and Anne Logan MRCVS, an equine specialist veterinary surgeon who has vast experience both with Highland ponies and the treatment of EGS. In Beth's role as Knowledge Exchange Specialist and Principal Research Scientist at the Moredun Research Institute, she leads a Fellowship project to take a fresh look at the causes and risk factors associated with Equine Grass Sickness, a devastating disease of equines. Her background is in livestock farming and veterinary diagnostics with biological and environmental science so she has a very strong base of knowledge and experience…
