Autumn Presentation Series
The Council of the Highland Pony Society is delighted to announce that a series of five monthly presentations, all relevant to the Highland pony breed will be held between October 2021 and March 2022. What a great chance to find out more in the winter months when days are short! There will be ample provision for discussion and questions at every presentation.
Here is the timetable with a note of the speakers and the subjects they plan to cover:
Thursday 28 October 2021 – Using many really interesting visual aids, Sylvia Ormiston MVO, Stud Manager at Balmoral will present on breeding Highland ponies and producing a working hill pony.
Thursday 25 November 2021 – To rug or not to rug! How to feed your pony and avoid the associated pitfalls - Fiona Steel
Thursday 27 January 2022 - Starting off on Long Reins and Lunging to get the most from your pony – Rebecca Chalmers
Thursday 24 February 2022 – Veterinary thoughts on maximising fertility in native ponies Ways you may improve their reproductive success. Can and should you be considering AI and other assisted reproduction techniques? Jim Dukes MRCVS
Thursday 24 March 2022 - The 'ups and downs' and 'ins and outs' of Endurance riding – Marjorie Grant
Each evening will be held between 7 and 8pm on the Zoom platform. To register your interest, simply email and a link and will be sent to you.
