Sold – Blairbuie Lord of The Rings

Description

8yo 14hh Gelding (gelded 27/01/25)

Top quality pony with great bone, conformation, movement and temperament. Lord was a working stallion until the end of January this year, he left me some great offspring and I have retained some of his fillies.

I can’t say enough good about Lord! He’s a kind, gentle, sensitive soul. I booked him before he was even born and he has been with me for 7.5 amazing years.  He’s been the easiest pony I have ever owned – a big feat given he was my first stallion also! He’s been brought on carefully and slowly over the years. As a 4yo he was professionally started with KVC Equestrian , he then had some time off to process everything before I brought him back into work. He’s attended a few clinics and was very well behaved. Lord hasn’t been ridden much in the past year as I’ve been busy on the farm and concentrating on the youngsters, however he’s no different whether ridden once a week or once every 6 months.  Lord is lovely to ride, its like sitting in an armchair and he has a lovely rocking horse canter. He’s a very level headed guy and definitely not the spooky type. He’s used to all farm machinery,  sheep and cattle. I’ve had children and novices on him ( whilst he was a stallion) and he’s always looked after them. I will be bringing him back into work shortly once he’s all healed and will get him out hacking to get his fitness up. He will need schooled on as he hasn’t done any schooling in a couple of years.

We had an absolutely awful summer this year with flies and midges . Lord has never shown any problems in all the years I’ve had him but by the end of summer this year he scratched some of his mane out on the barbed wire fence. I don’t want to see the slightest sign of an itch in a stallion therefore I made the precautious and responsible decision as a breeder to geld him. As he never showed any signs of an itch previously I did not have a fly rug on him. With a fly rug on and stabling when the flies are bad I’m sure he will be fine. He has also had the first Insol injection as a precaution and will receive the 2nd in 2 weeks time.

Lords mane has been growing back rapidly and with some producing under saddle this year I have no doubt he will be ready for the show ring by next year.  Equally if riding club activities is your thing I’m sure he will make a great all rounder or a happy hacker plodding around.

This is an extremely sad sale of a much loved pony. I already have a gelding at home and I really don’t need another. I will be extremely selective where he goes , I want to make sure it’s the right pairing.  A home for life is essential! He deserves the world and will not be sold to someone looking to produce and sell on. I can’t stress enough how difficult this is for me , Lord is very sentimental to me and anyone who knows me well knows why. He also started my dream and taught me so much. He’s a special pony through and through.

Lord likes his routine, he loves his food and can be grumpy at feed time – just give it to him and leave him alone. He likes the comforts of his stable but he also likes to be turned out every day ( but not in a tiny paddock as this will depress him). He likes company in the field, he’s had company all his life. He’s fantastic to load (we use an ifor Williams stock box) we clipped him once before and he stood like a dream. He hasn’t been shod as he has great strong feet.

Lord is the absolute apple of my eye – so please only contact me if you are serious.

It’s now time for him to go and see a bit of the world and find his new best friend!

The last photo was taken 3 weeks ago and shows his mane as it is just now.
