Exciting Weekend – 9 to 11 February 2018

Category: General

Things to see and do during the HPS Dance Weekend!

Fort George at Ardesier is open all year round. This was built after Culloden to tame the locals! It took 25 years to build and a shot has never been fired in anger. It is well worth a visit to see the wonderful Georgian barracks, deep moats and possibly the dolphins in the Moray Firth.

Culloden Battlefield Centre is well worth at visit too and quite close to Fort George. The recent refurbishment has been a huge success. Fort George is close by.

Brodie Countryfare has been extended and has a very popular meeting place in their cafe. Johnson's is excellent but they only have a small coffee shop. In Brodie, there is quite a good pub, The Mill, offering good, reasonably priced food.

Cromarty, an 18th century trading port with some very fine houses on the tip of the Black Isle is well worth a visit. There is a Pre Reformation church recently renovated as well as the old Court House which has won many awards. There are interesting places to eat - a good hotel, tea shop and restaurant. There is also an interesting pottery making slipware.

Beauly is a large village at the head of the Beauly Firth. It has a good Deli, an antique shop, famous tweed shop a gallery, Priory and good small shops.

HIS - Highland Industrial Supplies, in the Longman in the Inverness Industrial Estate, is a huge hardware shop which sells everything from an egg cup to a chain saw. It now has a kitchen department as well as fencing, clothing and a feedstuffs/horse department. Their cafe is good too. Every man’s toy shop! Parking is quite easy too.
